B’nai Mitzvah

Becoming a b’nai mitzvah is a significant milestone in a young person’s Jewish journey, and at Temple Isaiah, we are here to support and celebrate every step of the way. This process is about much more than learning prayers and Torah portions—it’s an opportunity for students to connect with their Jewish identity, deepen their understanding of our traditions, and shine as leaders in our community.

Our clergy, educators, and staff work closely with each family to ensure the experience is meaningful and personalized. We help students feel confident and proud of their accomplishments.

We recognize that every child and family is unique, and we strive to provide the guidance and flexibility needed to make this journey both joyful and manageable. From the first planning meeting to the moment they step up to the bimah, our students have a team cheering them on.

Becoming a b’nai mitzvah is a moment to embrace Jewish values, celebrate with loved ones, and take your place in the story of our people. We’re honored to be part of this transformative experience with you.

Thirteen Mitzvot

As part of a student’s preparation for their B’nai Mitzvah at Temple Isaiah, they are expected to participate in, and complete, the 13 Mitzvot Program. Students are required to complete mitzvot in at least 3 categories. A mitzvah must be approved by The Religious School Principal for the student to receive credit as part of this program.

During the family b’nai mitzvah meeting and students’ subsequent meetings with the Rabbi they will discuss the 13 Mitzvot.
